How to see the HOW Design Conference

Written by Neenah Paper in Conference Reports, Guest Editorial, To Do List

It's HOW Design Conference time again! We'll be there working our way through the sessions, pitching our wares in the exhibition hall, hosting a special edition of Talk Story with Jeni and throwing the infamous closing night party (this year's theme is all White baby- so get shopping!).

First time at the HOW Conference? We welcome you to one of the greatest weeks of your creative career! Long timer at the HOW Conference? Welcome back, it's always nice to see a friendly face and there will be plenty of friendly faces in Denver.

Neenah Paper has exhibited in some way, shape or form for as long as we can remember.  It's a conference that we look forward to sponsoring every year because it's got it all! Whether you are looking to recharge your creative battery, develop your skills, branch out and try something new, learn a much needed business skill, connect with old friends or network for new ones -HOW is the place to be.

But, even with the best of intentions, you just can't fit it all in.  Our advice is to look through the sessions before you even board the plane!  Some of the sessions will fill up quickly, this way you won't be disappointed or flustered if the session you really want to attend is at maximum capacity.  Print out a copy of the schedule from here http://www.howconference.com/sessions/ and then check mark your "must haves", your "want to sees" and your "if I have times" on your print out. To help you with this endeavor, HOW was kind enough to put FOCUS points on the sessions so that you can best target the information that matters most to you.

Be sure to check out some of the HOW Conference events as well. Each year HOW puts on guided Studio Tours so you can get an inside look and ideas from local Denver studios. To sign up for these (they fill up fast) go here http://www.howconference.com/studiotours/. There are also workshops you can attend, you get a break in price for being a HOW Conference attendee. Sign up here http://www.howconference.com/workshops/.

All work and no play, makes for a pretty long week. You'll want to find some down time each day in the mile high city. Whether you head to your room for a nap or off to take a brewery tour, Denver is definitely a city with no limits. For the low down on what's hot in Denver, we found this excellent site http://www.colorado.com/Denver.aspx.

So before we head off to pack our own bags, we wanted to share with you how you can find us at HOW. We've got a team of Neenah people roaming around ready to blog, tweet, Facebook and Flickr our way through different sessions and events each day. Be sure to head to our social media sites for the most comprehensive coverage of the conference available.

We'll be at the Opening Reception Sunday night, rockin' our booth in the exhibition hall. Make sure you stop by to drop off your business card for a chance to win a round trip airplane ticket for anywhere in the Continental US (a $1,000 value!).

On Tuesday we'll help HOW Magazine host a special edition of Talk Story with Jeni with host Jeni Herberger and fabulous guests Steve Gordon of Rdqlus Creative, Jeff Fisher of LogoMotives and Bryn Mooth, editor of HOW Magazine. They'll talk about workplace humor, give insights into livin' large and discuss tidbits from the conference. Not attending? Don't worry- Jeni thought of everything! There's a call in number so you can join in from afar. Head to her website for more info http://www.jeniherberger.com/talk.php?name=how_2010.

To cap it all off, we host the Closing Night Reception in Neenah fashion with our White themed party.  Diddy doesn't have a thing on our party! Don't be afraid to pack an outfit that truly defines your style and gets you noticed! We'll be taking pictures and video all night, so be sure to hit our social media sites after the conference to find yourself and your friends!

OK, so we've shared some hopefully helpful hints with you on how to enjoy the HOW Conference. Now all that's left is for you (and us) to get packing!

See you in Denver friends!
