EPIC Chicago to Atlanta!?! Yesss! Woo-hoo!!
What do you get when you cross an intelligent Portfolio Center alum with an ambition to make a big difference in her community? EPIC's Erin Huizenga! Erin, pictured above, speaks with her friend and former teacher, Portfolio Center's inimitable Hank Richardson, plot strategy at a cookout at the home of Against the Grain writer/editor Matt Porter last week. [Upstart student Tim Redman provide the image: trombontim@yahoo.com... more below this text!]
Erin was in town as a guest of Neenah, AIGA/Atlanta and Portfolio Center, to speak to students and AIGA members about the spectacularly popular creative service organization, EPIC (iamepic.org), Engaging Philanthropy, Inspiring Creative. We wrote about the work of EPIC on this blog in November 2009.
Early this year, the organization was featured in a popular column in Communication Arts Magazine. The concept has captured the interest of a number of Atlanta's leading professionals including BA Albert, Maxey Andress, Jerry Burns, Rick Anwyl, Kathi Roberts, Matt Rollins, Hartmut Jordan and others. EPIC is working with some of these men and women to open chapter in Atlanta. Atlanta area creatives, including those from advertising, graphic design, motion graphics, web design, branding, public relations, photography, illustration, printing, film and all manner of high end video/motion production to sign up at the EPIC site.
