ARTCRANK Rolls Again In Austin

Written by in Events

Crowds, Fun and Generosity

Neenah’s friends at ARTCRANK roll where the passion for bikes and community good is high. Austin is one of those places. {Pictured above: Poster by Grace Hall}

Asked to elaborate on why he participated in last year and this year’s ARTCRANK fundraiser, Sean Carnegie of Lewis+Carnegie said, “I love to bike. I love to silkscreen.” His wife Wendy Carnegie  elaborated: “Sean rides his bike across town every day and silkscreens on the side for fun. This event was right up his alley.”

Last year’s ArtCrank event set record opening night crowds and poster sales. On Friday, February 22 at Austin’s  Pine Street Station, ARTCRANK, the “Poster Party for Bike People,” rolled back into this Hill Country cycling stronghold again. They exceeded high expectations.

ARTCRANK shows feature hand-made, bike-inspired posters created by Austin-area artists. Limited edition, signed and numbered posters are available for $40 each.  After the opening, posters will be at Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop from Saturday, February 23  through Sunday, March 17.

ARTCRANK Founder Charles Youel said,  “We had more than 1,000 Austin bike art lovers turn out for our Opening Night Party at Pine Street Station. As impressive as the posters were in 2012 for our debut show, this year’s artists really turned it up. Seeing a packed house of people digging and buying local art was a great way for us to start our 2013 tour.”

Congratulations to everyone involved in the event.
