A PDF VALENTINE CARD!!!

{Picture above a design from Nane Press/Brooklyn.} Thursday is Valentine’s Day.  Have you paid a visit to your favorite stationer, letterpress shop or paper store to select a perfect Valentine for her or him?  Have you found something quiet, tasteful and understated? A letterpress card with a quote from Angelou, Austin, Kenyon or Whitman? How about a big, old, wet kiss of a card — you know, one of those gushy glittered covered, pop-up, oversized, heart-filled bear hug cards?

Whatever is appropriate, you the right card for her or him is out there. You have some time:  Google up a list of stationers and letterpress shops in your area and visit them. Or,  visit their websites and have them send you one Next Day Delivery. Or, go to the local pharmacy and peruse the rack of familiar brands and buy one with Snoopy on it. Because whatever you buy in paper will be fun to pass, fun to open, fun to share, and worthy of a grateful kiss. PDFs don’t elicit kisses.

Through our friends on Twitter and Facebook, Neenah found a couple of  beautiful Valentines on paper, all hand crafted, letterpressed and all on Neenah Paper or Crane sheets.

Owned by Jennie Putvin, Nane Press of Brooklyn is one of those terrific small press/design studios that produce a lot of their own product. Says Jennie, “Nane press is a labor of love – and also a design and letterpress printing studio based in Brooklyn, New York. Fueled by a love for ink and paper, each piece is hand-printed on a Vandercook proofing press and hand-assembled.”

Another fine small press and design studio is Ink Meets Paper of North Charleston, SC, owned and operated by Allison and Daniel Nadeau. Says Allison, “We love how letterpress printing appeals to the senses– feeling the thick, textured cotton paper; smelling the ink as it’s mixed by hand; listening to the hum of the motor or the ‘woosh’ of the paper cutter blade; seeing the piece come together one color at a time.”

Finally,  if you have a design that you love and want to share with our readers, send it in asap via Twitter!  Come on, gang! Show the love! If your design is selected, you will receive a gift certificate for some delicious Sweet Nothings (donuts and coffee) to share with your colleagues or friends.
