Lancaster Letterpress Printers Fair Starts Sunday!

Neenah Paper is pleased to support the inaugural Lancaster Letterpress Printers Fair, sponsored by The .918 Club’s Heritage Press Museum and BUiLDiNG CHARACTER. The event will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.) in downtown Lancaster, PA.

“Lancaster’s place in printing history and the Lancaster Letterpress Printers Fair will continue to hold significant this time-honored craft,” said Marty Hulse, owner of BUiLDiNG Character and former newspaper and graphic designer.

DETAILS: Vendors selling printing supplies and handmade products. Local food also will be available for purchase.

Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/ Lancaster New Era Feature: News Feature

The event will feature vendors and suppliers of letterpress equipment, foundry type, cards, posters, broadsides, ephemera and more.  Fair-goers can buy letterpress equipment and other print shop supplies at the fair as well as purchase letterpress-printed pieces, artist books, handmade and commercial paper and more.

Heritage Press Museum

They can visit a 1920s-era working print shop at the fair and visit the Heritage Press Museum’s operating platen presses, proofing presses, and Civil War era Adams Cottage Press from 1861 and print a souvenir using the museum’s 1875 Kelsey tabletop press or using a replica 1750 common press like one used by Ben Franklin. The event includes print demonstrations at the Heritage Press Museum’s 1920s print shop inside BUiLDiNG CHARACTER at 342 N. Queen Street.

“We’re excited to showcase our museum and its mission to promote the history and craft of letterpress printing,” said Ken Kulakowsky, The president of the .918 Club and fair organizer.
