Design Camp and the Secret Paper Society

Written by in Events

I’ve been hearing about AIGA Minnesota’s Design Camp for maybe twelve years or so. Twice during that span, I came very close to attending, but it didn’t work out. So, third time’s a charm? After a long drive from Omaha yesterday, I finally made it.

Above, the #NeenahSecret. If you’re at the conference, find a way to follow (it’s a secret, I’m not sure I’m allowed to tell you how), there may be something in your future (did I already give away too much?)…

The ‘Secret Paper Society’ stamp / logo design is by the other designer at my office, Katie Jo Huckins.

Starting to see why this event has such a great reputation. Even though it’s at a new location this year – Madden’s at Gull Lake – Northern Minnesota is amazing. Cold, rainy and windy in October, but still amazing.

Event collateral is starting to remind me of how much design talent is in this state. Letterpress by Studio on Fire. Classic Crest Epic Black from Neenah Paper.

“I’ve never opened a conference, so…” and with that, Armin Vit started the music and danced a bit with his back to the audience. Yes, this happened, even if only briefly.

In the end, a conference is only as good as the speakers, and they sure started this one off right. I may regret taking so long to get here, but I’m very happy I finally did…
