A Bonfire, Double-Sided Posters, and Custom Sketchbooks at Design Camp

Written by in Color & Texture, Events

AIGA Minnesota once again had a great event in Design Camp. Having everybody at least two hours from their homes, and no city to disperse into after the speakers are out for the day, creates a more intimate conference experience than most. There was also some pretty solid items for people to take home.

Double-sided 18″ x 24″ posters designed by little and printed on Neenah ENVIRONMENT® PC100 White Smooth 80C. A small bonus of making an eight-hour drive to a conference instead of flying is that I could return with a couple of completely flat posters.

After Kim Shannon of Neenah Paper gave her workshop on paper yesterday morning, she set up an impromptu notebook making session outside of the Governor’s Ballroom at Madden’s on Gull Lake.

Also on ENVIRONMENT® Papers by Neenah were a double sided cover, blank sheets for sketching, and a yardstick back.

Attendees assembled their own books using the paper provided, and some little plastic discs to hold them together.

Custom Sketchbooks

A couple of the finished sketchbooks.

And what is Design Camp without a bonfire? This year, there ended up being a truckload of Lagunitas (with labels on a Neenah Paper Bella Label™ in a Laid finish) at the second bonfire (I did not attend the one the first night, but knew I had to make least to one of them).

Even after a few great days in northern Minnesota, it’s still nice to make it back to Omaha, Nebraska… Thanks again to the great AIGA Minnesota chapters, their volunteers, and this year’s speakers for making this an event to remember.

Great ideas. Creative minds. Bonfires. Sweater weather. It does not get any better. Thanks, Donovan for sharing your experience with all the ATG readers. M
