The New CLASSIC® Point of Hue

Written by in #ClassicNeenah, Collections, Color & Texture, Create, Design, Inspire

Hard-Working. Timeless.
Meet the New CLASSIC®.

The New Point of Hue

Part physics, part math, and part intuition—the science of creating and using color has fascinated the likes of Isaac Newton, Wassily Kadinsky, and every child armed with crayons determined to figure out where purple comes from. Research suggests that humans can perceive up to 3,000,000 hues, which combine to create new shades—so when it comes to choosing new colors for CLASSIC® Papers, the options were literally infinite.

Despite never-ending possibilities, there was one thing to consider as Neenah worked with Design Army to expand the already-extensive palette found in CLASSIC® Papers. One word had to apply to each color that made the cut—yes, you guessed it. The colors had to be hard-working, timeless…CLASSIC®. Meet the new masterpieces.

It’s a fact–when it comes to communication, color is key. The bold new colors of CLASSIC® Papers range from practical to eye-catching and deliver the whole package—unmatched luxury, dependable results, and best-in-class quality

CLASSICS PROMO-9195

Above: Cobalt, atomic number 27 on the periodic table and long used in oil paints and glass making, is a vibrant blue that stands on its own. A color that may have not even been a color until about 4,500 years ago (try to find mention of “blue” in ancient Greek texts), blue is calming, focused, and slyly powerful. CLASSIC® Papers’ new Cobalt is not a warm or cool blue—it’s VIVID in its own place in the spectrum.

CLASSICS PROMO-8820

Above: More than just an intermediary between red and blue, purple is the color of refined royalty, rare in nature but sought after for centuries. Aubergine, inspired by the rich, intense shade of savory eggplant, is the best of both worlds—a new take on an exceptional hue with a long-established past.

CLASSICS PROMO-8858

Above: Historians know it as “OG-107” (or Olive Green 107)–the official color of combat fatigues for decades. The addition of Military to the CLASSIC Brands of papers not only introduces a solid, rugged shade of green that lives up to its name, but also provides a warm, earthy tone perfect for the new CLASSIC® Woodgrain texture.

CLASSICS PROMO-8917

Above: Add a color that’s a refined take on traditional denim to the palette of CLASSIC® Papers and you truly have an exceptional color available in unforgettable textures. This soft, serene blue is subtle by nature but is a perfect complement to foils, metallic inks, or simple blacks.

Crest Printability Imperial-7791

Above: The intense, powerful reds found throughout China, symbolic of fire, happiness, and good fortune, are the inspiration behind Imperial Red. A force to be reckoned with, this energetic red makes for memorable messages.

Textures Waterfall Laid-7750

Above: Moody yet sophisticated, gray can be the best of both worlds —dramatic when it trends towards black, and radiant as it moves towards white. The addition of two new shades of gray into the CLASSIC® Papers palette rounds out the spectrum:  Cadet Gray comes to rest in the middle; finding the perfect position in between dusky Pewter and the new, beautifully achromatic Cool Gray.

Above: Many languages have multiple words for “white,” differentiating the color of fresh snow from the color of milk and everything in between. The range of whites found in CLASSIC® Papers cover all the bases, from bright Avalanche White to creamy CLASSIC Natural White. NEW Bare White adds another distinctive option, a beautifully balanced white that’s perfect for images requiring a soft, sophisticated sheet.
